Too often, a person’s destiny is predetermined by the oppressive environments into which they’re born, and forced to live. Gender-based violence and discrimination is rampant in the developing world and in the United States. Domestic violence is the most frequent cause of injury and death to women worldwide. We believe giving people the right resources, reinforcing their basic human rights, will help lift them out of these environments to manifest their own, self-chosen destinies, so that they may experience freedom, justice and peace.

Improving Basic Rights

Oprah’s Angel Network is committed to making sure that people have access to the resources they need to fulfill their basic physical, social and emotional needs. To date, we’ve awarded over $8 million in grants to organizations that are promoting basic rights.

With your support, we’ll continue to provide vital resources to women, children and communities that have been neglected, exploited, abused and forgotten. Together, we will:

• Protect the vulnerable and give them the power to take control of their lives
• Remove the inequities that prohibit people from living healthy and productive lives
• Provide life-saving testing and treatment to people living with HIV/AIDS and other diseases
• Keep women and children safe
