Our Work

Oprah’s Angel Network has awarded grants to organizations around the world that are improving access to education, protecting basic rights, creating communities of support and developing the leaders of tomorrow.

A Note About Oprah’s Charitable Work

Oprah Winfrey has donated to many projects that are not affiliated with the Angel Network. If you don’t see a project or grant that you believe is affiliated with Oprah, it might be because it is part of Oprah’s private foundation work, which she supports through her personal finances. Her private foundations have funded the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy School for Girls and The Oprah Winfrey Boys & Girls Club of Kosciusko and Attala County, which is located in her hometown. She also provides money for scholarships, educational initiatives and leadership programs through her foundation work.

Through the horrific flooding and damage emerged valiant survivors who are rebuilding their communities and trying to help those still in need. One of many charities to lend a hand, the Angel Network is proud of the thousands of donors who stepped up and continue to step up in America’s time of need. More about Gulf Coast rebuilding

Creating Schools Project in South Africa

When the Christmas Kindness episode first aired in 2002, viewers joined Oprah Winfrey to sprinkle some holiday spirit on the children of South Africa. After witnessing firsthand the dilapidated schools in the rural province of KwaZulu-Natal, the Angel Network started formulating ideas for what would become the Creating Schools Project. The project seeks to find innovative solutions to the complex challenges of building schools in poor, remote areas of South Africa. The project’s first school, the Seven Fountains Primary School, was established in 2007. A new school in Vele is set to begin construction in 2009. More about Creating Schools
